Captain Beefheart & the Magic band

A
vast, disparate hotch-potch of live cuts cherry-picked from The
Captain’s British adventures between 1972 and 1980. The listener surges
from the legendary Bickershaw festival in 1972 to Knebworth ‘75 and a
storming appearance at Manchester Apollo in 1980. Despite this
time-warping, this is a strangely coherent gathering showcasing a band
capable of the most scorching funk, thundering against the wild exotic
vision of their extraordinary leader.

Personally i find Avalon a great album, if only for the the track More than this.
One of my favourite movies ‘Lost in translation’ features a scene in
which Bill Murray and Scarlett Johansson are in a karaokebar in Tokyo
and Bill actually sings this song, or he tries to, a key moment in this
already classic movie. Personally i think it’s a bloody disgrace Bill
wasn’t awarded the academy award for this role, but that’s another
matter. With a bit of effort i have managed to find this part of the
movie and i’m glad to present it here.

RETRO: Leisure Suit Larry?

For some people, the old games that were played on the XT and AT
computers are still the best made ever. For those I’ve found the a few
old adventure games of Larry that were made by Sierra.

Leisure Suit Larry I: In the Land of the Lounge Lizards
Leisure Suit Larry II: Leisure Suit Larry Goes Looking for Love (In Several Wrong Places)
Leisure Suit Larry III: Passionate Patti in Pursuit of the Pulsating Pectorals

If you can’t play them because your system for example won’t play the sound, it could be usefull to download this program.

Next week SpaceQuest 1,2 and 3 are dropping by..

update: It seems that you’ve to wait for an hour before you can
download the next file from QuickFILE datasharingcenter. That’s why

Ik
ben helemaal versleten, eerst om kwart voor negen m’n bed uitgebeld
door een ijverige postbode met een pakket om tien uur bij de kapper,
gelijk erna door naar de markt en bibliotheek om de middag op tijd op
de witte de with te staan. Staan ja want van zitten is er dus tussen
ca. 13:30 en 16:00 niets gekomen. Een zeer indrukwekkende stoet is daar
aan ons voorbijgetrokken, flink wat lillend vlees ook maar toch wel
leuk dat dat maar zomaar kan in Rotterdam. Persoonlijk vond ik het
boliviaans of peruaans gezelschap het indrukwekkendst, zware slome
ritmes en dat gecombineerd met fantastische outfits en maskers en een
ietwat ‘dreigende’ verstrooide dans, heel erg mooi. Helaas staan die er
natuurlijk niet op, ik was te gefascineerd om erop te letten m’n camera
te gebruiken, maar evengoed denk ik dat het filmpje wat ik jullie hier
nu aanbiedt een leuke impressie geeft van hoe heet het er vanmiddag aan
toe ging hier.
