On special request from Maks (was he drunk?) yesterdaynight.. I present to you Nattefrost. Another one of those fine Norwegian chaps making good spirited music for the young at heart!
This is Nattefrost’s second solo album besides his occupation in Carpathian Forest. It is pretty primitive Black Metal with plenty of tongues in the cheek. This second album ‘Terrorist-Nekronaut Part I’ has some wacky and some truly punkrock moments …
Enjoy!

Jah Shaka live has to be heard to be believed. Industrial Noise and Reggae combined into some voodoolike experience. This is capped from an old VHS-tape and doesn’t sound exactly pristine but that’s all part of the fun. It’s a pity I can’t supply the video with the audio cause it’s quite funny that this mighty impressive sound is being produced in a gymzaal with the neonlights still on. Whole carribean families are drinking wine(?) from plastic beakertjes in the harsh neonlight and the cleaning-crew is already on it’s way (listen to the sound of the plastic being crumbled inbetween the songs)… still Jah Shaka is dubbing on and on in his unprecedented stylee…

Yesterday I heard a version of the song Right or Wrong by the band Stool Sample. It brought back memories of long farflown times. Of times when music was good only when the singer was screaming, the guitars were loud and the drummer was hitting his gear as if he was in a real hurry to go home and drink a cup of thee with his mother, or so, you get my point.
I started looking for the original album on which Right or Wrong was featured: Second Coming by Battailon Of Saints. It took a while to find it, but with the help of R3n3, a dogmatic punkrocker in heart and kidneys, I found it. And not just that album, I found their complete discography, including a rare recording of a show they did in San Diego.
But listen to Second Coming first. The other recordings are only interesting when you’re a fan. After 5 minutes, probably.

This classic early solo album is like a collection of short stories and contains some of Cale’s most poetic lyrics. There is a subdued, almost melancholic air about most of these, like Child’s Christmas and Hanky Panky Nohow. The impressive orchestral backing make it less of a rock album than most of his later work.

On their 1992 album ‘Possession’ British jazz formation God produces industrial jazz terror that is quite unusual but not inaccessible. The line up of three bass players, two drummers, three (alto, tenor & baritone) saxes, didgeridoo and guitar made me buy this one when I found it in a bran-tub costing only Hfl. 2,50 (old Dutch money).
