the Plasmatics - New Hope for the Wretched (1980)

The Plasmatics were an American punk band formed around lead singer and former sex show entertainer Wendy O. Williams. New Hope for the Wretched was their first album. Although the record sleeve now strikes me as the most ugly possibly ever made, it made me steal this LP from the local library as a kid, just because it looked so “punk” to me.
The music is a massive and energetic mix of tight-ass punkrock and metal, with Wendy’s gorilla-grunt on top. For doing that (and showing her tits) Wendy actually received a Grammy nomination for “Best Female Rock Vocalist” in 1985. Give it a go!
