As a tribute to the fingerfreezing long distance Alaskan Iditarod dogsledrace, New Yorkers thought they should make a postmodern version out of it. These voluntary idiots were of course covered by a lot of artsy press and media.
Instead of using sled dogs the teams had to pull themselves -all dressed up- a shopping cart all through the city to end at the picturesque Tompkins Square Park on a sunny winter’s day, sober or not. Well hung horses, ninja’s, Andy Warhols, aliens and of course bananas were represented in this alternative carnival. Enjoy!
