Depth Charge
February 28th, 2006 by nodog
I stumbled upon this old cassette with lots of tracks from the legendary first couple of 12″’s by J. Saul Kane aka Depth Charge. For those who don’t have a clue who that is; he’s practically the sole inventor of the style called “Big Beat” (short through the corner: hiphop beats combined with reggae basslines + bits of cultmovies-dialogue on top).
That whole style has quickly degraded into *shudder* Eboman-like stuff, but these early 12″’s are really worth a listen, sounding just as fresh and impressive as they did all those years ago.
