Zangeres Zonder Naam

Het zal ergens rond 1976 geweest zijn dat ik als jochie voor het eerst de zoete, maar doorleefde stem van Maria Beij hoorde. Het Soldaatje (De Vier Raadsels) zat in de jukebox van het caf� waar op zondagochtend, na de verplichte kerkgang, het fr�hshoppen volgens goed Brabants gebruik begon.
En hoewel de tragiek in dit lied me op die jonge leeftijd natuurlijk volledig ontging, de raadsels waren spannend genoeg om iedere zondag opnieuw weer een geleend dubbeltje in de Wurlitzer te gooien.

Het moeten die zondagochtenden geweest zijn waar de kiem van mijn fascinatie voor de Zangeres Zonder Naam ligt. Ieder zijn fetish tenslotte.

Never heard of the guy before, but hey, I’m not good with names. Rudy Ray Moore is a Polyester God, a survivor from the blaxploitation era, but still busy on the celluloid. (Imdb: “Bad, bad, bad … and not in a good way “). Just having a great body isn’t enough for appearing in a blaxploitation, so yes, there’s music!

Meet The Residents

I remember when I heard The Residents for the first time. I was at a friends house and all I wanted was to sit back, have a drink and listen to some easy-on-the-ears tunes when suddenly
someone put on third reich and roll . My first reaction was: WTF?!?
Later on I grew to appreciate the wacky, weird style of The Residents and today I totally dig their music. When your sick and tired of ‘conventional sounds’ have a go at The Residents. For your convenience I’ve found their debut album: Meet The Residents
There’s a whole philosophy behind their sound and performance but I like to keep it simple and just enjoy the sheer uniqueness of it. pre-hear
