Confessions Tunesday

March 27th, 2006 by Chiel Montagne

CHIEL!

Maks:
Wie sjoen is oes Limburg
Let’s start with a confession: I love fanfare-music. Hard to say why, but it probably has something to do with my roots.
… (waits until the Och-audience quits laughing)
Having said that, I do not longer have to keep my secret: last weekend I saw Gé Reinders playing with Muziekvereniging Eendracht Schaarsbergen in Musis Sacrum, Arnhem. It basically sucked by the way, but there was this one sort of bluesy song with some thrilling bugel parts in it called: Processie.
Gé is from Roermond and a little bit more up-north is America, Limburg situated. America is the hometown of Rowwen Hèze and they recorded this tribute (with fanfare!) to Limburg: Limburgs Land.
So far for this weeks confessions.

Zoute snor:
No fancy stories here, this one’s for Mikhail, kom erbij.

Sifco:
Weinig confessie buiten het feit dat ik in Eindhoven zit en dat het wel zomer leek vandaag.

gast!:
Ok, I have to say: Rowwen Hèze bemt. But as I do not understand Limburg gibberish: especially for all y’all: Whodini; and especially for Wankaatjuh: The Mary Jane Girls. G’luck.

Hank:
Well this might come as a pretty big shock to some of you but it will be a relief to others, I’m sure about that. Ok, here it comes: I hate punkrock! It’s the worst music ever made. I never listened to it, I never heard a single song I ever posted here, I just made everything up! Hahahaha!
Ok, but what do I like then. The only music I ever listen to is Dolly Parton. I have a whole 60 GB iPod filled with all versions of all songs she ever recorded. Who needs more music than that? So, to let you share in this musical walhalla, here are three of the best songs ever recorded. Stop laughing, listen to the lyrics and get rid of all your overtollige music.
Gypsy Joe And Me
Joshua
Coat Of Many Colours

Rams:
Let’s start of with a nice Dj Shadow (mixed by Soulwax)song Six days. Why ? I don’t know just was listening to it.
Next up, since Maks started of with some fanfare songs, this one is of the lowest songs ever made it’s called March! by Cathedral (one of their first songs) i think the phat E-string of the bass is tuned into A or even lower, well it sounds like an upcoming thunderstorm !

pedigree:
Hoei! Three tunes again. One we’ve heard before (in a little different form), one kick-ass remix and one kick-ass track. Enjoy!

InvertedPantsMan:
Because I have it so pressure this week only one track: Lazy Confessions

Chocotofferts:
Players (short part) from “Guilty as charged” by Culprit.

*–*:
What the fuck is there to confess?

Sergeant Baker:
Faith No More started a joke. And Thelonious Monster about their body and soul. Have a nice sunny Tunesday!

And when you meet your maker, just act naturally.

Are you happy now?!

March 27th, 2006 by Joid

Positive psychology rules nowadays @ Harvard University. Tal Ben-Shahar is teaching his 900 students on “how to get happy”.

His Six Tips for Happiness:
1. Give yourself permission to be human.
2. Happiness lies at the intersection between pleasure and meaning.
3. Keep in mind that happiness is mostly dependent on our state of mind, not on our status or the state of our bank account.
4. Simplify!
5. Remember the mind-body connection.
6. Express gratitude, whenever possible.

His class offers research from the relatively new field of positive psychology, which focuses on what makes people happy, rather than just their pathologies.

And? What makes you happy?

Ohh no it’s Squarepusher again!

March 26th, 2006 by *--*

Heb je een eurootje voor me? After this and this we just continue the squarepusher madness..
Today’s booty is a 5 track bonus 3″ cd EP that came with the ‘Ultravisitor’ cd’s first pressings. Also included in this modest torrent is a track from the web-only-pre-released single with the same name.

Okay, okay it’s not ‘Music is rotted one note’ (his best album in IMO) but anyway:

Go and enjoy…

Jah Wobble & Bill Laswell - Radioaxiom

March 26th, 2006 by nodog

This is for anyone who likes bass (and I don’t mean those poxy 6string funkhosmos! ; ). Two of the most acclaimed bassplayers ever bundled their powers and produced a superb album. Slightly trippy, jazzy, dubby but with a bite.
Jah Wobble started out in P.I.L. and has been quite well known in many different guises since then.
Bill Laswell made a name for himself producing over a 100 records in his own inimitable style.

Betsy’s Kiddiecorner.

March 26th, 2006 by Betsy

As a kid i remember that on sundaymorning i was glued to the tv-screen with my brother on sundaymorning watching sky channel.
And today is no different, millions of kids got out early this morning and while their parents were getting rid of their hangover and/or were having their weekly portion of nookie, they were being absorbed by roelerende animation of some sort.
Well i’m not so well informed anymore on what kids like these days so i just listened to what that little kid inside me likes and here it is.

We all know the adventures of wallace and grommit, or so i presume, and this is by the same makers.
Creature comforts is more for big kids such as yourself rather than the toddlers that might be crawling around your house but that’s okay.
The video consists or interviews with animals giving some hilarious comment on eachother. I’ve “found” a little teaser for you that you can download quickly from rapidshare : Cats or Dogs ?

The rest you may find on this new born torrent,
