Bradley

10 years ago to the day Bradley Nowell died of an overdose of heroin. Brad was known best as the singer of Sublime a Californian ska/dub/punk band. Sublime managed to produce three studioalbums. Every summer I get the kriebels to put on these cd’s. I guess it’s because of the raw and honest love of life that spetters from the music. Also how can you not like someone who ends his first cd with a nice dub track thanking everybody who contributed by name in stead of scheping them of with a tenk joe in the cd leaflet (including friends, family, kofferd musicians and his dogs) Bradley made no secret of his susceptibility to addiction, in fact at least the helft of the tunes he wrote touch on the subject of booze or drugs in some way. I guess he enjoyed life so much he died from living it.

Here’s the first cd they made called ‘40 oz. to Freedom’. Bradley sold 60.000 copies from the trunk of his car cause he never lived to see a record deal with a major label. There’s some nice koffertunes on this one and the afore mentioned thanx dub at the end.

A year after he died a remix album was released called ‘Second-hand Smoke’. The tracks on this CD all sound a bit better kwa sound quality. Notice that in the thanx dub on this CD Nowell’s voice has been removed :’[ *snif* Anyway, enjoy the sun, drank, drugs and these bemming CDs today.
