Bettie Does The Velvets

June 29th, 2006 by Maks

For about ten years ago Marlboro organised their ‘flash-back tour’ in which Dutch bands covered one of their favourite bands in music-history. Bettie Serveert was also asked to do it and decided to cover The Velvet Underground. A tricky choice, ’cause who can beat uncle Lou and his companions? That’s easy to answer: no one.
But if, I say ”if” there’s one singer in The Netherlands that could do Nico, it’s definitely the beautiful and mysterious Carol van Dijk with her dark and soft-tone voice. And with great Peter Visser on guitar she’s got her own uncle Lou.
Now check it out (yes, you too Goodie), ’cause you might be amazed by the way that Bettie does The Velvets. Intense and with respect.
