Barry Adamson

w00t!You wouldn’t believe it as you check those tracks on this album, but back in 1984 Barry Adamson was one of the members of Nick Cave’s Bad Seeds as they recorded their debut-album ‘From Her To Eternity’. Before that Adamson was even one of the founding members of Magazine, a legendary English post-punk band. Adamsons love of contemporary black dance beats wasn’t very obvious at that time, but as he released ‘The Negro Inside Me’ in 1993 it defenitely is. The tracks do feel however as if it was ment to be for a soundtrack of which the film was never directed: divers, dark, soulful and jazzy. Pour yourself a whiskey or a longdrink and make yourself comfortable with this highly underestimated musician.
(But to be honest, the only reason I bought this six-track EP a while ago was because of it’s outstanding cover of ‘Je T’aime… Moi Non Plus’, which he performs with Louise Ness, atmost hornier as the original version by Brigitte Bardot and Serge Gainsbourg :- )
