The Plan
January 31st, 2007 by Maks
”Oh, Merde! Mon Amour. Nothing’s enough, Mon Amour. Ahahaahaaa!” It must have been somewhere in the summer of 2001 as The Plan’s debut single ‘Mon Amour‘ smashed me right in the face. Single of the year imho at that time. Of course there are a lot of bands who are able to make one f***ing great single and afterwards seem to be creatively empty, what makes buying their albums a complete drag. But not with these four guys! The tormented voice of singer Theodor Jensen - although sometimes a bit too exaggerated - got this perfect snotty stylee so characteristic for bands like these.
The Plan from Sweden is king in composing highly catchy riffs in singalong songs with an indierock-sauce on top. And even better: in comparison with some more or less similar bands they really rock! Go check ‘em live at VPRO’s Club Lek and convince yourself of this missing link between, let’s say Pulp, The Strokes, The Libertines and Beulah.
The guys from The Plan are still going strong and released, without the slightest smell of creative emptiness, their third ‘Walk for Gold’ last year. Go check that one out too, but not here at Och.
Tag a building
January 31st, 2007 by 5H0C0

Remember the outside drawings of Pikapika Light? Something quite similar is going to happen in Rotterdam. The KPN building there already has an animated “pixel” display on the building front. Well, now the back of the building will from 7-10 February be used for drawings by hand. The Graffiti Lab will try it with pencils. So if your feeling like making your building tag, mark your agenda.

The OchCult Corner does IFFR
January 30th, 2007 by J-One

Currently the IFFR is in full effect. The OchCult Corner couldn’t leave behind, so we present three short movies which perfectly combines dark musick and visuals and where the story has to develop in your brains.
Warning: all movies are save for work and stomach!
First we start with “Flood” of director Silke Witzsch. After this colourful flick it is time to enter the darkness with the second screening “The Chair”, directed by aE3. This movie proofs that also a acoustic chair can be very depressing.
We end the evening with AndrĂ© Werner’s “Daughter of Dementia”, an atmospheric mixture of dark musick with b/w film footage. Showing all of which the OchCult Corner is about. As said the stories are made up by yourself!
This kicks off a new season @ the OchCult Corner, in which we will further grave into the cruel depths of underground movie making. Keep hanging on!
