The Plan

Oh, Merde!”Oh, Merde! Mon Amour. Nothing’s enough, Mon Amour. Ahahaahaaa!” It must have been somewhere in the summer of 2001 as The Plan’s debut single ‘Mon Amour‘ smashed me right in the face. Single of the year imho at that time. Of course there are a lot of bands who are able to make one f***ing great single and afterwards seem to be creatively empty, what makes buying their albums a complete drag. But not with these four guys! The tormented voice of singer Theodor Jensen - although sometimes a bit too exaggerated - got this perfect snotty stylee so characteristic for bands like these.
The Plan from Sweden is king in composing highly catchy riffs in singalong songs with an indierock-sauce on top. And even better: in comparison with some more or less similar bands they really rock! Go check ‘em live at VPRO’s Club Lek and convince yourself of this missing link between, let’s say Pulp, The Strokes, The Libertines and Beulah.
The guys from The Plan are still going strong and released, without the slightest smell of creative emptiness, their third ‘Walk for Gold’ last year. Go check that one out too, but not here at Och.
