Lowlands 2007 # 10

August 15th, 2007 by Maks

low-w00t!TEN! As written before on Och, Dinosaur Jr. got reunited last year and made an excellent album called ‘Beyond’. Their sound didn’t change too much through the years and I would like to hurrah for that, because their sound is still higly dominated by John Mascis’ overdriven guitar exploits full of feedback, distortion and dissonance completed with Mascis’ and Lou Barlow’s tormented voices. Their sound is often compared to the more grungey side of Neil Young and Sonic Youth (they will also perform on this years edition of Lowlands by the way, w0000t!). But Dinosaur Jr. are the ones I’m probably most curious for. And let’s just hope that I’m completely wrong, but I’m afraid they made an incomprehensible mistake in the Lowlands final programming on Sunday evening.
Isn’t the India-tent way too small to fit in all those people who want to see them play live finally?
I guess it’ll be camping in front of the stage one hour before, to make sure you’ll be able to take a glimpse from that massive, sonic assault.

Their third album ‘Bug‘ is considered one of the best.
Compilation album ‘Fossils’ is still up here.

Dinosaur Jr. will play on Sunday 19th Aug 22.00 at the India-tent
