How About Some Haardcore?

June 23rd, 2008 by gast!

Back in the early 90’s I was a true bonehead and loved to do my portion of hakken. Like a lot of my “gabbers” I also attempted to master the techniques of DJ’ing, alas not to much succes. However, I did buy some mighty vinyl records, from different labels.

Waar is mn hamerOne of my favourite labels was Mokum Records, founded as an Amsterdam response to Rotterdam Records in 1993, as a sub-label of Boudisque Records. About a month ago beneger kindly helped me out when I needed to digitalise two vinyl albums for a friend, and I took advantage of the opportunity and also digitalised some nice Mokum tracks, from MOK4 and MOK5, to be exact.

The first three tracks are from MOK5, and are produced by Tellurian. These are not your typical hardcore/gabber tracks, as they have been influenced clearly by the acid and techno movement, and were also quite early in incorporating breakbeats in their music. The fourth track is from MOK4 and is called “ore slope”. For a long time I was under the assumption that this had to be pronounced in English, but it makes more sense to just read it out loud with a mokum tonguefall; what you say is what you get.

Although there’s only 4 songs on this DenDriet© production, I have decided to bake a torrent and share them with you. Oh, and if anyone could get me a copy of MOK21 I would be most delighted.
