If its broken…

From Ikiro I got two sets of flashing bicycleledlights and Beneger showed up with a so called vosim. For those of you who ever met him: he often brings something along with him that makes sound. (From now on that will be Balou). And then there was Choco who took a video of the bleep thingie.

This bleeping apparatus is an optically controllable vosim, a voice simulator, a simplistical optical vocal chord simulator.

The vosim looks like a lolbak but is really intended to be a musical instrument, an advanced application of oscillator sync. What that means exactly, I don’t know, being a real alpha, but it has to do something with converting light pulses into soundwaves. So the optical input is transformed into a simulation of the voice.
You see? This serious digital ernst.

Beneger built it all by himself, from scratch.

“From a musical point of view I like instruments that hover between electronics and voices. Thats why I made a vosim in a simple way. The sensors were bought by a friend of mine. I found the casing. The precision sawing took most of my time. Drilling has to be done slowly in metal. A Dremel doesn’t do the job, so I drill by hand. First little holes and then widening the [s]goatse[/s] gap. The making of a fitting rubber inside in the flight case took up a lot of time too. That one didn’t turn out to be very crafty, but quite safe”.

A really ambachtelijk gefixte thingie, and so lovely a thingie at it, too!

So, to continue the merelroze, we freaked around with the gadget a little, until I got the idea to use Ikiro’s gifts as a stimulus for the object. And whooh00t, did we get a feedback!

This is a communal post, made together with Choco and Beneger and ofFffff course wouldn’t have existed without the gifts of ikiro and love of farquaad /Oscar winner modus.

Well, maybe not yet. But an British engineer named Geoff Hatton has made a flying saucer which has captured the imagination of the American military.

For all you sad bastards who are still using windows explorer on their PDA we felt sorry. I knew for quite some time that your pda’s were crashing because they couldn’t handle our bullshit chat :-) Anyway, I’ve installed the wp-pda plugin so you sad bastard can lurk pda style. But you should use Opera which you can download on demonoid here I was told. You lucky sons of Och who are using opera on their PDA no worries nothing has changed for you. I hope my other favorite sites will also work on their pda style templates soon examples here, here (they are working on it) and others…

The Beryl project is a window manager for Gnu/Linux operating systems which makes use of your 3D graphics card to give your desktop some cool eyecandy features.

Very nice collection of photographs by a guy who brings all kinds of souvenirs “home”. I liked the snowy atomium best.

First impression: Fairly nice.
2nd impression: Why the single large image?
Products offered: Wow, what a selection! If we forget about the omnipresent tomato it’s actually quite cool; soup bowls, a bicycle, bags, caps and the usual pens. The design is simple but nice and the prices seem fair too. The safety jacket is a bit lame, but seems to be the only item that’s not cool to have.
Conclusion: 5712 Euro’s for a bike?! That’s not really socialist is it? It might be environmental friendly, but I’m still not sure if this is a joke or not. Also, the shopdesign with its highres pic is awful. But well, the cool merchandise makes up for a lot so I’d still say they did a decent job.
Grade: 8 out of 10

VVD vvdshop.nl
First impression: Rather simple.
2nd impression: What’s up with not thumbnailing the pictures?
Products offered: A nice selection, but a bit silly and standard. I know they used to have a nice furry bird, but that’s gone. The Clothes are awful and what’s with the “doe mee” stuff? USB-stick is quite nice, but a bit dull too. Probably the nicest items are the golf-balls and the Tie.
Conclusion: A bit dull, too much standard stuff and no colour-variation in the clothing. The balls are nice, but probably not of much use to many voters. I like that they have more than 1 item of clothing though and the fact that the also provide some handy stuff for their members. (PAper, envelopes etc.) I’d say a bit of a too average shop, but the quantity makes up for some of the disappointments.
Grade: 6 out of 10

2nd impression: It’s ony for members.
Products offered: How dull, only material that’s of some use to active members and nothing else. And yes; it’s only available to members. Well, you can win a shirt, if you dare.
Conclusion: Where can I spend my money? I want goodies!!

2nd impression: A lot of nice items
Products offered: They have all the boring standard item, like mints, flyers and pens, but they also have nice clothing and special cycling gear. I’m not sure if Christians are that much into sports, but the thought is nice! I like it when someone dares to come up with something special like this.
Conclusion: The shop looks boring, the url is worse but the cyclingclothes are ok. Too bad that this limits the number of users.

2nd impression: Not too much items but a nice selection of decent stuff
Products offered: Ok, T-Shirts are sooo boring, but these actually look quite nice. The stickers are standard too, and the posters ohwell. T-shirts, stickers and buttons are not too exciting, but I guess the design is quite allright.
Conclusion: Items are too standard, but the shop looks nice, design is cool and they have a MILF on the posters. Slighty more hip than the CU I’d say!

Products offered: Ok, they sell some boring items. The only “nice” thing is their flag and even that one is quite silly. I guess the webshop is closed on Sundays by the way.
Conclusion: I want more, cooler and crazier stuff! But at least they sell items, so this is better than D66.

Products offered: Ok, this shop might be great if you fancy crazy hairdo’s but otherwise this is just another boring webshop. Standard items and all kinds of stuff with the guys face on it, this is not the US man!
Conclusion: It’s still on the old URL, and the items sold are boring. Ok, he sells his books.

Yes, it’s not just all Volkswagens they come up with. This lamp actually looks quite nice, though I don’t want to know what happens if you put a lamp in it with too much Watt. Yes I think we all can find something here that would fit nicely into our way too small appartments.

That being said; I think this one is up for some improvement, I like my own creations at festivalsites (graspop!) better.
