Zo op de valreep zou ik graag het album Soulstickers van The Timewriter onder de aandacht willen brengen, tevens Walls van Apparat, en zo ook de verzamelaar The Other Side: Berlin door Ellen Allien. Pete Philly & Perquisite’s tweede album Mystery Repeats heb ik helaas nog niet goed genoeg beluisterd om daar het predikaat heersend aan toe te kennen. Dat was het wel zo’n beetje wat ik aan 2007 materiaal gehoord heb. Oh, de verzamelaar Total 8 van het Duitse label Kompakt heeft hier regelmatig de finale van diverse Tour-etappes van soundtrack voorzien.

It’s the Law of Diminishing Returns, that not only has its application in agriculture. Diminishing Returns (2003) is an eclectic mix courtesy by Schijfruiter Schaduw in two parts: first part is some of the wickedest hip-hop from the underground west-coast and one of hip-hop’s Golden Ages (alas, the late 80s period). Second part features some of the grooviest and eclectic psychedelic rock songs I ever heard (not that I’m a connoisseur on this front). Plenty of reviews exist that you can Google-up yourself. I can only say that since I’ve discovered this deep in the vaults of Joid’s Überlink, this has been etched into the hard-drive of my mp3-player and has accompanied me on numerous (cycling) trips around Europe.

The tracklist is a well kept secret, probably only to be revealed by the SChaduw himself, however, here’s a suggestion for the hip-hop set, and here’s one for the psych rock mix (thanks to fellow-editor gast! for the latter). Rests me to say to enjoy the selection, the beats, the rhymes, the scratching, and the amazing blends in the psych rock mix. Let’s party!

Not the heavy and deep funk that slowly drips out of your subs, but that light and energetic funky stuff that fills the air, uplifts your mood, and makes you move your dancing feet. So act like a tennis shoe, and just do it!

That spirit has been kept alive as Ain’t Gonna… delivers that same dubby sound (betcha nodog is gonna fry me for calling this dub) superbly produced by the fine Arthur Baker of Planet Rock-fame and the Latin Rascals (who later overplayed their hand a bit). Zum Schluss, habe ich wieder in die Hände gespuckt und eine Antwort gefunden auf einer der Neue Deutsche Liebeslieder. Es handelt sich hier wiedermal um eine richtige Antwort, diesmal auf der Hintergrundinstrumentiertes Telefongespräch zwischen der Singer von der Großenknetener Band Trio, Stephan Remmler, und seiner Sabine.

Another very safe place to get info regarding all things related to OINK and its demise is the blog of former admin Paine. He started this blog after the raid this week answering to the enourmous amount of speculations that started appearing shortly after.

Today I found an excellent article that explains point by point what is wrong with the current music industry business models. I would like everyone to read it and think about it. It is written by Rob Sheridan, a graphic artist/video director that has worked for several major labels creating album artwork and videos (nine inch nails has employed him several times). Update: Ah zie je wel, Hirsch Ballin wist niet waarover hij het had.
Nu.nl heeft artikel aangepast van “Online identiteit verwisselen wordt strafbaar” naar “Kinderen verleiden via internet wordt strafbaar” Ministerie van Justitie verbetert nu de minister z’n uitglijder en voorziet de media met informatie over de werkelijke wetsverandering.

Joid motivation: Joid jr. has a kidneyproblem since he’s 6 months old. One of them works for 16%. The other one is ok, and jr. is ok now. The insecurity although was killing. There shouldn’t be a shortage, there should be a mountain from where they could pick out the best.

Vinnie motivation: ‘Been a donor for quite some time now I consider it a civilized thing to do, in short it is uncivilized not to do. Like giving blood that’s something also everybody should do sometimes, this is something Im planning to do.

Now the first idea of this Rijnboog project is that its all nice and okidoki. Let the plebs choose a harbor and lets start digging. But the opposition in Arnhem has started an anti-campaign against the preferendum and is telling the people not to vote. Why? Because, according to them, the preferendum is a scam. Its yes, yes or yes. There is no option to choose not for the harbor. So that is a shine-democracy! Also other possibilities are not considered. So many Arnhemmers don’t feel heard.

I’ll let some more water passing the Rhein before I make my decision what to do.
